Summertime

July has been a mixture of unpredictable weather, unpredictable sport, unpredictable politics. General unpredictability all round. I enjoyed the football but not the ugly aftermath of the final. It seems our nostalgia for 80s fashion extends to hooliganism and racism. Very disappointing. The national mood feels febrile and tense regardless of the football. The uncertainty of holidays and the ‘pingdemic’ seem to nullify any benefits that the vaccine has brought.

Jaffa and I enjoy the games.

I’ve managed to create some new music, which I hope to share soon. The only other drama was a lost dog called Max. He was a Jack Russell that cautiously passed Jaffa and I on our walk. I went to look for him once Jaffa was safely back at home. Eventually I found Max and with Bee’s help, managed to gather him safely up and get him to our home. After two seconds of DuckDuckGo (the internet can be awesome) we found that he was missing from a family that were holidaying in Bournemouth from Scotland. It was an emotional reunion as Max had been missing for over 24 hours when I contacted the family.

The hope is to get to Ireland in August to visit my family for the first time in a couple of years. The process of travel is a bit fiddly but hopefully it will work and I’ll get to see them face to face rather than over video. Analogue, old style.
