Humdiggity (2026)

For a short moment, I was tempted to retire the ‘gingerjamesfair’ moniker and start something else. I was bored of writing songs using the same process of demos, recording sessions, mixing and mastering.

I was keen to make everything on the album with the Stylophone product series: standard Stylophone, the Gen X-2, the Beat and the Theremin. I composed these tracks with no structure in mind at the beginning. I would open up Logic Pro and just jam. The inspiration was William Orbit’s approach to Blur’s album 13. I decided against lyrics for the project, largely because I felt the last albums were getting too laden with lyrics and I feared it may lead to a verse, chorus, verse structure.

I’m not sure if the result is something that still sounds like my previous stuff or not. I decided to continue with the ‘gingerjamesfair’ moniker. They’re still made by me, so why change it? If anything, I feel revitalised by the process, having previously felt at a dead end creatively.

I hope you like it.
