I am reluctant to add this here because I’m not happy with it as a film. I’m including it out of a sense of completeness and in recognition that lots of things have to fail before we can get something right. This film ‘has a heart’. It has good intentions but serious flaws that prevent them from being realised. I won’t list the technical elements that make this unwatchable as they are evident. Instead, I will mention a couple of things about the context. First, this was before the days of social media and things going viral but it was already apparent that all things were ‘filmed’ and life was being spent in front of/behind screens. Hence I wanted the irony of someone singing ‘So Alone’ in one of the busiest places in London. Second, this song reappeared as the opening track on Sagittarius many years later. Personally, these two things in the film remain interesting to me, even if I can’t stand watching it.
