I recorded this album in a flurry of activity between September 2023 and January 2024. It is perhaps my most concentrated and prolific period of songwriting and recording so far. The project was intended to be an antithesis of my previous album An Unreachable Peak. This focuses on the diversity of our hobbies and pastimes rather than the monotony of work.
There are six extra, original tracks for those who wish to buy the digital download. I felt they made the album too long but they are an excellent E.P. and continue the theme of hobbies (Painter, Pigeon Fancier, Garden Hymn, Cakemaker, Rare Find at the Record Fair, The Guitar Was Still There.)
I was inspired by the harmonies of the Beach Boys, Moody Blues and some elements of Laura Marling and PJ Harvey. The album is dedicated to my Dad, who was a true hobbyist.
