Plodding on

June has been a strange month. The outlook at the beginning was very positive with a few exciting projects and adventures taking shape for the summer, including a film and some travel. However, I shelved the projects because my family needs me at this point. So I have been shuttling back and forth to home in my spare time to see family. It gave me a chance to take some lovely photos in their garden.

University work has been different recently. I haven’t had any teaching this semester so I have been doing some training on research leadership and policy writing. I’m not sure I am really suited to either, but the information has been very interesting and I have appreciated not being involved in marking work for a while.

I am frustrating myself creatively. Having got lots written and recorded earlier in the year, I have hit a bit of a funk and struggling to get momentum going on a book and an album. It’s annoying because the content and the ideas are all there, and some of the execution, but I seem to getting stuck when sitting down to complete anything. I have some holiday coming up, and the cost of living crisis means we are not going anywhere, so maybe that will be a chance to stretch some creative muscles.
