An up and down month. I had lots of family visits, which were nice, but would ideally be under better circumstances. In happier news, Bee and I celebrated ten years of marriage. Interestingly, despite lots of blogging ten years ago, getting married never got a mention! In my defence, the blog was focussed on the 72 hour film stuff, so wasn’t really the platform. I remember changing my Facebook profile picture to our wedding photo, and people were confused because we hadn’t mentioned it to anyone. Only my Dad, Mum and step-mum came along, with our friend Ian Jones to take pictures, so it was a really private occasion. In retrospect, one of the best decisions we ever made!
The ten years of marriage were unpleasantly eventful in the first five years, and pleasantly peaceful in the second five. We had so much stuff to deal with when we met, with illness, visas, moving jobs, moving cities, PhDs etc. I wrote a lot of it down at one point, just to get it out of my brain and onto a page. Perhaps I’ll share it at some stage.
I started recording some new music this month, which excites me. I hope to concentrate on that in the coming months. I’m trying to incorporate some new sounds and influences into it. I’m conscious that I want/need it to be more fun as a process than some of the more recent projects have been, both to make and to listen to!
Elsewhere, term started again. I posted a few months ago about the desire for a productive summer. To some extent it was successful. New music, an academic paper. I would have like to have done more walking, but it can’t always fit in with other parts of the schedule! Maybe I’ll get an opportunity if we have this October heatwave that meteorologists are expecting.
