I have wanted to do this stretch of walk for a couple of years but events conspired against me, so it is a pleasure to finally get to do it. Originally I’d intended to walk this stretch the other way around when filming with Will Whiting in 2021, but it was unseasonably hot, and we (correctly) decided against it. This time it was seasonably hot and I got burnt. Dumbass.
The walk itself was fairly straightforward. Sometimes it feels like reading books in a series but out of sequential order; landscapes and terrain is similar but not the same. This time it felt as if nature had got the better of some of the pathways, really overgrowing and not yet trodden down by the summer tourists. The first stretch was similar to the gradients on the other side of Lulworth, fairly demanding. Then it straightens out a bit towards Ringstead and Osmington Mills. Perhaps the hardest slog was the Weymouth Promenade, which was windy and the legs had given up at that point.
So, now I managed Bournemouth to Weymouth in different stages. I need to do the stretch along Chesil Beach to West Bay, which would then connect up to the section I did from West Bay to Charmouth a couple of summers ago. Then onto Devon. The speed at which I am managing to do this, I reckon I could complete it by 2055 (!)
