I got an amazing night of sleep and Will and I started mooching around Cologne around 10am. We had a breakfast and I bought some pants, socks and tee shirts to replenish the ancient ones that I have been throwing away.
Next we wandered around the city centre. Cologne is a bit unusual. It has lots of landmarks, but alongside developments that don’t give the landmarks space to breathe. It is an interesting mix but neither of us are interested in shopping so it’s just a mooch around.
We do see the cathedral. It is impressive and we see some incredible architecture. Later we cross a bridge full of locks, but it is so hot that we cannot really endure lots of heat. We decide to have a bratwurst lunch, which was amazing, and train back to our neighbourhood.
I crash once back on the bed. I am exhausted. The last few days have been insane travelling. I feel a little guilty that I can’t manage a big night out, but Will seems happy wandering by himself this evening while I take advantage of the comfy bed to write the diary, read book, shower and watch Spain v. Belgium. Sometimes you just have to stay in.
