Bratislava Hlvana station at night was characterful. Not unpleasant but could be for some people. Younger me would probably have been intimidated with the drunks. I just found them drunk.
I ate a schnitzel at the station restaurant. The train was 30 minutes late getting in, so I was last into the cabin. Everyone else boarded at Budapest. Again, I thought I slept okay but my watch says it was bad. I was awoken by the Polish border patrol and lots of people getting off at intermediate stops like Dresden. Why did they say Polish border? We didn’t go into Poland? Maybe they said ‘police’ with an accent. I was tired.
I got into Berlin Hauptbanhof and quickly went to the toilet (1.50 here – when did this become a toilet price comparison website?) got a coffee and boarded a train to Cologne. It too is late. Not very German.
My train arrived into Cologne around an hour late, but timed well with meeting up with Will. We had a quick beer near the cathedral and then wandered up to our hotel. We have our own room for our stay in Cologne, which is amazing as I have been on trains for two nights.

We had a kebab and spent the night having a few beers in our area of Ehrenfeld. It’s an arty district.
