September has always been a silly season at the start of term. Now I have changed institution it is super silly and overwhelming, but I am really enjoying the challenge and I’m delighted to be working with postgraduate filmmakers from all around the world. That really excites me.

Elsewhere the silly summer season that hits Bournemouth has come to an end. The beach is a pleasant place to be again, especially when it is dry. I’m not sure I am ready for an autumn yet, especially as I am now a commuter again for the first time in over 10 years.
September was a difficult month for maintaining hobbies. The challenge at work meant that some things didn’t get done. Ironically, I failed to do any filmmaking, having been quite busy over the summer. I don’t want that to be a long term absence. And writing had a small dip, and none of it has been particularly channelled into a singular project, which I would prefer. But for now, while I have some new things to get my head around, I am choosing to be kind to myself and not get annoyed that my creative habits have slipped slightly.
