August has been a nice mix of sun, fun and rest. My father-in-law went back to Iran early in August after a lovely month of sea swimming and nice restaurants. We didn’t go anywhere on holiday this summer, preferring just to enjoy what we have here. I managed to do some music, which I will post about separately soon. The end of the month was quite a bit of research and writing for a journal paper deadline. Not my favourite part of the job, but I’ll be happy if it gets published. Good to get it out of the way in the summer than during term time. I’m excited as I drop down to three days a week from September, so hopefully more time to enjoy creative endeavours.
There’s also been the airshow at the end of the month – which has been a bit difficult for me as it reminded me a lot of my Dad and I really miss him. He enjoyed airshows and came to the Bournemouth one regularly, including last year when he was very unwell. I found being in the same environment without him left me feeling tearful.
