Dumb title, but just updating the progress on The Hobbyist. I have now added either some stylophone, glockenspiel, hand drum or thumb piano to each song. In some cases it really lifted the piece. On other occasions I think I will be muting it and pretending that it never happened. Ultimately though, I am quite proud of all the parts and I hope I can mix it into something coherent. This is an unusual feeling for me because I usually hate a project at this point. As the recording has been done in chunks from September til early January, I feel the momentum has helped me enjoy it more. I will probably curse myself lots in the mixing part.
I’m not totally done. Some vocals need to be added to two tracks. One is missing all vocals as it is a late addition to the project, and I swapped it out for a track that wasn’t working very well. The other is some guest vocals, which I really think will help one of the other tracks a great deal.
Then, next stage: mixing. I’m not too far behind schedule. I was originally aiming for 4th Feb, but now I think 1st March, as it may give me a chance to put some videos together too.
