Perhaps this is a new phase in the blog, but we’re going to see more about the filmmaking in the coming weeks methinks. I’m still excited about seeing where these snails have got to, and I’ll be posting up their adventures as their pictures come in. I’ve been amazed how quickly we got them around the surface of the Earth.
These pictures will form part of a montage at the end of a film, which I shot back in July with Katie Sheridan. I’ve got a few more scenes to shoot with a special actress that is a younger version of Katie. We’ve set the date for November 5th, so I’ll post pictures of the production then 🙂
In the meantime, I’ve been working on the musical themes. I was preparing to record them yesterday night on to my computer and then froze. For weeks and weeks I’ve been tempted to record onto my old 4-track recorder – simply for the reason that I like the imprecision of not having a beat counter and the immediacy of the buttons upon the desk.
So, I didn’t record anything, I spent the evening unpacking the recorder from the cupboard and preparing the microphones and leads. The flat is turning into a studio for a little while! I’m childishly excited!
I’ll post up some tunes when I have a chance. I want to work upon some instrumental elements, so I have no idea how successful I’ll be when I consider that I only really have experience of songwriting, and not specifically composition. But happy accidents right?

Hi James,
Have you thought about using the 8-track recorder/speakers we have at SU? Suggest you speak to Ben… Keep in touch!
