Happy Accidents

I’ve always found consistency and repeatability to be the two primary keywords in filmmaking, just because of the multiple takes and angles that you find yourself shooting. It is always hard to edit around differing versions. We improvised some of the stage direction upon Peppermint and Gabs had a nightmare trying to cut around it. The lesson was learnt.

So it is always a bit of headache and a panic to go back to it, because it almost goes against all my training and education. However, having indulged in the convoluted mechanics of the 72 Hour Movie project, I’m keen to experiment with improvisation again just to push myself as a filmmaker. I find I learn more from my mistakes rather than trying to keep recreating and repeating the successes. After all, it is the constant craving for repeatable success that has lead Hollywood to make loads of similar comic book franchises and sequels.

I’m hoping for some happy accidents. Just no soft focus like the post below 🙂
