As predicted last month, there were huge breaks to the usual rhythm this month. My step-mum finally moved house, so there was that adventure followed quickly of the adventure of unpacking, which still isn’t complete. Still, the stress of unpacking is nowhere near as much as the stress of house-selling, which took over a year.

The World Cup and the heatwave also disrupted my usual habits. I saw fewer movies than usual and struggled to play music. I’ve been working on a new project with lots of Stylophone models, but it doesn’t always excite me the way that the guitar does. Nevertheless, I am sticking with it, because it has merit.
I’ve also been doing some camera tests in advance of going travelling next month (more disruption). I’m going inter-railing for the first time since 2000, when I was a student. I plan to film some of it, although I am not sure to what purpose. I didn’t want to labour over planning it too much, but following my instinct and seeing where it takes me. That has been the way that I have written stories and music lately, so I am keen to try it with filmmaking.
I continued to read graphic novels this month, but next month taking a classic on the train – Moby Dick.
