Last night I walked next door for some Polish food then slept for a full 9 hours and 46 minutes. Amazing. I had showered beforehand and it felt amazing.
This morning I woke, wandered around and am sat having breakfast in a cafe in the old town. It is delightfully cheap and cheerful. The plan is to taxi to Warsaw Central, drop off my bag and wander around. The weather is drizzly, which is not ideal but I am sick of the hot weather so it is fine. First impressions of Warsaw are positive.
6.34pm
A long and fun day in Warsaw. Took a taxi as planned, then over the course of an hour had walked back to the same place I had started. Really happy I left my luggage at the station.
Visited four museums. The first was devoted to optical illusions. It was fun but small and full of kids. The vortex tunnel though was spectacular. I really felt it was worth the price. The second was the Warsaw Museum. It was really interesting in places and very large. Some elements of the history were really valuable. Other bits of the exhibition were a bit boring.
Then I had some lunch. Food here is insanely cheap. I had a three course meal with a pint of lager for £8.80!
The third museum was my favourite. Melt is an immersive art space. I usually cringe at the thought of that, but this was great. It was similar to the illusions in the earlier museum, but on an epic scale. The fourth museum was thankfully free entry. It was the Museum of Technology, which was full of curiosities but not much of interest to me. I think I was tired.

Elsewhere I had a lot of walking and am sat by a McDonalds before getting my night train to Vienna. I took many more of these twenty years ago but many still go to the same cities, so that’s why I am using them less this time. Looking forward to it!
