It was my first Father’s Day since Dad passed away, so I decided to commemorate his awesomeness by raising some money for Cancer Research. Thanks to lots of excellent people, we managed to raise over £500, which I think Dad would be very proud of. Nic, Simon and Bowie came down to see the race and surprised me at the start line, which was lovely. I managed to complete it in 32 mins, which is slower than I’d have liked, but it was congested at the start and windy on the return leg. These are my excuses and I am sticking to them.

It was also my second Bloomsday since reading Ulysses. Not sure it’s that important but I was laying in bed this morning, noticing the sound of the wood pigeons, and I imagined how the day would unfold in a Joycean style. Racing, resting, then football.
