From an early age I have had an interest in films and storytelling. It was probably about the age of ten when I decided I wanted to produce or direct film and theatre as a career.
I shot my first short with a budget back in 2000 and have not stopped making films since. Two years later I was offered corporate work and began my own production company. This eventually led me to apply for film school where I was able to study for a diploma and really hone my understanding of the craft.
In 2009 I was fortunate enough to have the chance to work as Festival Director for a film festival in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Through this I was able to meet and network with filmmakers from all over the world who were promoting their films. This opportunity imparted a wealth of experience and led to employment with the Royal Shakespeare Company working in their Education and Events departments (and occasionally helping film their trailers and productions).
Currently I am a trustee for the National Student Film Association as well as studying part-time for the MSc in Digital Feature Film Production. This course presents a unique possibility to refine those filmmaking skills and get a deep understanding of feature filmmaking.
The 72 Project is an inspiring approach to feature film production and I am excited to be part of the third project to be made. I am looking forward to working with all the talented individuals and the filmmaking community this will create in Birmingham as a result.
